I woke up at eight o’clock. I had a shower, got dressed and had breakfast. I started to cook Alex’s breakfast. I decided it would be better to cook four sausages, so the other two could be heated up tomorrow.
After breakfast I dusted all the furniture. Alex helped me a little bit but he seemed too tired to do anymore. Alex went into our room to watched tv.
Charlie from Park Georgia phoned around eleven o’clock. He said he wanted to bring a client at two thirty or three o’clock. He phoned back at two thirty to say his client wasn’t here yet and they would be late.
I had made sure the house was clean and neat. It sure takes a lot of work on my part when I’m really not up to it.
At three forty when they hadn’t showed up I phoned the real estate company. They said he worked there but he wasn’t in. The receptionist said she would give him the message. I wanted to know if he was coming or not.
It was only a few minutes later when they arrived at the door!
I explained to Charlie that I had phoned earlier. He said his clients had come from Vancouver. I said that was okay.
By the time they left Charlie came home from work. After dinner we went to Mom and Dad’s. I had promised Alex he could play video games at their house. We had planned on going there this afternoon but when the real estate agent was late we couldn’t go.
When Charlie told Alex it was time to go after he had played video games. Alex came over to me and told me it was time to go. I said just a minute. Alex got mad and said to come now and pinched me. I tapped his hand, he thinks he can get away with things.
We got home at eight o’clock. Alex had a snack and got ready for bed.
I watched tv and went to bed at eleven o’clock.

I woke up at eight o’clock. I had a shower, got dressed and had breakfast. I started to cook Alex’s sausages, he woke up at nine o’clock, so they were almost ready.
We left at ten thirty. I took Alex to Mom and Dad’s while I went to the bank, pet store, London Drugs and the doctors.
Dr. C was running late today, she has a medical student with her. She said to me to explain how I have to exercise with me being diabetic. I explained to the student I had to exercise after every meal.
Dr. C said did I give you a kick chart. I said a what?! She said a kick chart, it’s to keep track of when the baby kicks. The baby should kick ten times in a day. I said no you didn’t she also asked if I used it when I was pregnant with Alex. I said no I never did. There is a lot of different things between the two doctors. My stomach was never measured with Alex and a Doppler was never used either.
Dr. C went to find one but the nurse wasn’t able to locate one.
Then when she asked me to lie down, she was called to the phone. She told the student to find the baby’s heartbeat. The student felt around with her hands but didn’t have much luck. Dr. C had told her that I would be able to help her. I don’t know why she thought that. I can feel the baby but I don’t know which part of the body it is, probably the bottom.
Dr. C finally came back. She used the Doppler and found the heartbeat almost right away. It was in the area I thought I felt something.
Dr. C said she was going to order a non stress test. I said in the booklet it said at 34 weeks it was done. Dr. C said she wanted to have it done and she was afraid they would forget.
Dr. C said to come back in two weeks. By the time I got out of there is was 12:20 pm. Luckily Mom had already made lunch. We left before one o’clock for Children’s Hospital.
This time we didn’t have any trouble getting there. Mary called Alex in right away. Then we waited for Dr. S. , she called us into the examining room. She said Alex’s counts had only come up 20 points which wasn’t good enough. She said to still stop the Mercaptopurine and the Methotrexiate for another week. Dr. S said she was looking for an appointment for a week Wednesday. That way Alex can go to the first day of school. I thought that was a bit strange when Alex’s counts are low.
Dr. S said if Alex’s counts weren’t up by next week he would have to have a bone marrow test done. I was pretty upset about that, it’s not very good if they have to do that.
We left at two fifteen, we went to Coquitlam Centre. Alex wants to buy another turtle. I don’t usually buy Alex anything when he just has a blood test but Alex insisted we buy something.
We came home afterwards, Alex had bought Shredder. He went into the spare room to play with it.
Charlie came home at four o’clock. Jeff of Dason Realty came over at five o’clock. He had sold the house next door. He said his client Mrs. Chang is friends of theirs. They asked quite a few things about the house.
Charlie went out to buy dinner.. We ate at six o’clock.
Alex was mad at me because I won’t let him eat any junk food. He said there’s nothing to eat. I told him then he could get ready for bed. Alex finally decided he would have a cream cheese sandwich.
Alex went to bed at eight o’clock but he didn’t fall asleep until after nine o’clock. He started coughing again so I gave him cough medicine.

I woke up at eight thirty. I had a shower, got dressed and had breakfast. Alex woke up at nine o’clock, he had breakfast and a shower.
It took me all morning to clean up the house and have it looking presentable.
In the afternoon I cleaned the counter tops and the small appliances. It took me a couple of hours to do it.
Dino from Royal LePage phoned at four thirty. He wants to bring someone over at seven o’clock.
Charlie painted the bathroom before dinner. It sure needed it, the paint had gone streaky. I figure it was because it was cheap paint.
We ate dinner at six o’clock. Charlie didn’t eat dinner with us, as he was cleaning up the bathroom.
Dino came with his client just after seven o’clock. We went outside to give them some privacy.
Charlie finally was able to have dinner when they left. We watched tv.
Alex got ready for bed at nine o’clock. Alex got into his pajamas. He wanted me to read him a story, Charlie read him a story and got him into bed.
I cleaned out the fridge and watched tv. I went to bed at eleven o’clock.

I woke up at seven o’clock. I couldn’t sleep in for some reason. After my shower I had breakfast and got dressed.
After breakfast Charlie and I tided up the house. I cleaned the bathrooms, made our beds, did laundry, the dishes and put away Alex’s toys.
Alex woke up at eight o’clock, I made him his breakfast. Then I got him to have a shower and get dressed.
Charlie vacuumed the house and we waited for the people to come. They never did show up which really annoyed me. Deanna could have at least have phoned if she couldn’t find the house or wasn’t coming.
We went out to Canadian Tire. Charlie wanted to buy something. Then we drove around the area to look for open houses. We wrote down a few we might be interested in which weren’t open houses. I told Charlie I hoped he wouldn’t do this every weekend. He said no he wasn’t going to every weekend. I said because I feel sick already from driving around and around. Charlie said why didn’t you tell me. I said because you wanted to drive around.
We came home at three o’clock. Mom asked us to come for dinner at four o’clock. She invited Victoria over for dinner. We went there just after four o’clock. Victoria was very excited to see us. She told Alex she hadn’t seen him since he was a baby and how we had such a wonderful dinner then.
Charlie, Alex and Dad took Victoria home. Mom and I stayed behind, it was all I could do to stay awake. I had a nap earlier so I don’t know what happened to me!
We came home at nine thirty.
Alex and I had a snack and went to bed.

I woke up at eight o’clock. I had a shower, got dressed and had breakfast. Alex woke up a little later and had breakfast.
At nine o’clock, Gabe of Sutton Realty phoned. He wants to bring his client at twelve thirty. A little while later Abby of Realty World phoned for the same time as Gabe. I told her I would be home as another agent was coming at twelve thirty. She said they had better come at one o’clock then. Half an hour later Deanna from Maple Ridge called to make an appointment for tomorrow between 9:30 a.m. and noon.
I got busy and tided up the house. At noon Gabe phoned to say he couldn’t find his client, so he would have to cancel his appointment. He would phone later if they showed up. Gabe phoned back to make an appointment for two thirty.
Charlie had gone out earlier to get his hair permed. He came back at twelve thirty.
Abby and her clients arrived after one o’clock. They left shortly afterwards. Then we waited for Gabe to arrive, he didn’t come until three o’clock. Charlie said he apologized when he came in.
After they had left Alex and I went to Save On Foods. I put Kelly’s prescription in, bought Mom and Dad a anniversary card and silk flowers.
We went to a Won Ton House in New Westminster for dinner. We came home right afterwards. I was tired from the PNE yesterday and tidying up the house this morning.
We watched tv and Alex went to bed at nine o’clock. I went to bed at ten o’clock.

I woke up at eight thirty. I had a shower, got dressed and had breakfast. Alex wanted to have sausages for breakfast. He was annoyed that it takes so long and my breakfast doesn’t.
I did the dishes, cleaned up the kitchen, made our beds and did the laundry. Through out the day I made sure the house was in good shape.
Charlie came home at four o’clock. He said he wanted to go to the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition). We left at four thirty. We were able to park in the back parking lot thank goodness. We took Alex to the rides, he went on a few rides before we went to the other end to get something to eat. After eating we went through the show home. Then we went through a few buildings before we went back to the rides. Alex had a terrible time trying to decide which rides to go on. He just couldn’t decide and when we mentioned the rides he got really mad. Alex said you’re making me mad. The day pass for Alex this time really wasn’t worth it. Anyways he went in the Dragon, where the kids get to jump up and down. The boat ride, car ride, the cars that go around the track and in the glass maze.
We saw Fred , Cindy and baby, then later on we saw Jolene, Carrie, Robert, Laura, Andrea, Monique and Mrs. Chew. Laura said you’re sure getting big for five months. I said I’m not five months, I’m seven months. Jolene said I looked smaller than I did last pregnancy.
Alex went on a few more rides then we left. Just before we got to the car it started to rain. Charlie and Alex ran for the car but of course, I couldn’t. We all really got wet!
Alex had a snack then he went to bed, it was after ten o’clock by then.

I woke up at eight o’clock. I had a shower and got dressed. Alex and I had our breakfast.
Melinda from Sutton phoned last night. She said she wanted to show the house at eleven o’clock this morning.
I made sure the house was in good order.
Kurt phoned at ten o’clock, I told Alex he would have to go to his house to play. Surprisingly enough Alex went over there. It’s been months since he’s been to anyone’s house to play.
Richard from Sutton phoned before eleven o’clock. He said Melinda had phoned yesterday and made an appointment for this morning. It was actually for himself. He said his client hadn’t arrived yet, so he wouldn’t be able to make it until this afternoon. If he was going to hold me up then he wouldn’t bother me. I said no that would be okay. Richard said he would be here at two o’clock.
I phoned and asked them to send Alex home. We went to Safeway to buy milk and a few other things.
We had our lunch when we came back and waited for them to come. Richard and his clients didn’t arrive until three fifteen. He asked to use the phone while his clients looked around.
I had another call from Carol of Royal LePage. She said she wanted to show the house at seven forty five. I told her we had to take Alex to a birthday party but we would be back at eight o’clock. She said she would bring her purchaser over at eight o’clock then.
An agent driving by came to the door. He wanted to show the house to his clients. He said they were leaving next week. I said that would be fine, unfortunately I didn’t get his card.
When Charlie came home we got ready to go to Patrick’s party. Morgan phoned at five o’clock. Alex answered the phone. She asked him if he was getting ready to come to Patrick’s party. Alex told her yes and hung up. I told him she probably meant were you coming over to ride in the van. Alex said no way I’m going in the van. He wants us to take him to Chuck E Cheese and stay with him. I phoned back and explained again to Morgan we would be taking Alex. She seemed a bit annoyed that Alex wasn’t coming in the van but there was nothing I could do about it.
We went to Chuck E Cheese at five o’clock. They were there already, the kids played for awhile then it was time for dinner. After dinner Patrick had his cake and Chuck E Cheese came to give him a birthday hug. Then Patrick opened his presents. The kids played for awhile and went back to Patrick’s house. They got their party bags and went home.
When we got home Alex wanted to play but some more people are suppose to come soon. The agent did phone to say they would be late and would be here at eight thirty or eight forty. They arrived at eight forty and didn’t stay that long.
Alex finally got to play for awhile. He went to bed at nine thirty.

I tided up the house as the Real Estate tour is between ten and noon depending on where they start. Luckily they came just after ten o’clock. There must have been about thirty of them. They all left their cards. Dean said he would phone later to let us know what the quotes were from the other agents.
After they left I told Alex he could play with anything he wanted to now.
I didn’t do that much as I was tired from getting the house ready.

I woke up at nine o’clock. I’m really tired I didn’t get enough sleep.
Alex and I had our breakfast then I had a shower and got dressed.
I did the dishes, cleaned up the kitchen, made our beds, put the garbage downstairs and did the laundry.
Morgan phoned just before we were leaving for the hospital. She said I walked to get the mail and saw your sign. I hope your not going very far. I said no not when Alex is going to Ranch Park School. Morgan said do you know where you’re going? I said no not yet, we want to get a bigger lot. Then she asked if Alex was going to Patrick’s party on Thursday. I said yes but I was wondering if it would be okay if we took him to Chuck E. Cheese. I explained that Alex wants to be around me all the time. Morgan said that would be fine.
We left for the hospital at one o’clock. We couldn’t get on the freeway as a semi had flipped over at the Capehorn overpass. We went along Lougheed Highway but then a truck had broken down so we turned off to Brunette then went to the freeway. By the time we got to the hospital we were fifteen minutes late. Mary took Alex right away for his blood test. She asked us what happened. I told her the problem we had coming in. Mary said she figured something must of happened since we’re always on time. Alex is really good at getting his blood test. It’s taken at his elbow and Alex will blow as Mary puts in the needle.
We went into the waiting room. Dr. S called us into the examining room. She said she hadn’t got the results for Alex’s blood test yet. Dr. S asked me how Alex had been this month. I told her Alex had been okay except he had a cough a few weeks ago. Dr. S checked Alex and said she would have to wait for the results of the blood test before giving me Alex’s prescription.
We went back into the waiting room. Laurel had sent Alex’s Vincristine to the pharmacy so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
Dr. S gave me Alex’s blood test results. She said we would have to stop the Mercaptopurine and Methotrexiate as his counts were too low.
Alex and I went to the pharmacy then we went to the cafeteria. Alex got a bag of chips and chocolate milk. I got a pear since I forgot to bring my snack.
Alex had his Vincristine, we went to the pharmacy and came home. By the time we got home it was almost four o’clock. Charlie was already home form work.
Charlie started to paint the front of the house while I started dinner. Alex and I ate at five thirty, Charlie ate later since he wanted to paint before it got too dark.
After dinner I scrapped the deck at the back. Alex played on his swing set.
Alex went to bed at nine thirty. I watched tv and went to bed at eleven o’clock.

I woke up at nine o’clock. Alex and I had breakfast then I had a shower and got dressed.
Charlie vacuumed while I tided up the house. Dean came over at twelve thirty to write up the papers for us to sign. Then he put the sign in our yard and Charlie helped him to put a sign on the fence at they back.
I had made Dad a birthday cake earlier. Alex helped me put on the icing and chocolate sprinkles.
I started cooking the vegetables at four o’clock. Charlie started barbequing just before five o’clock.
Mom and Dad came at five o’clock. We ate dinner at five thirty. Alex helped Dad with his cake. I even had a piece but just a small piece. It was the first time in almost four months.
After dinner Dad opened his presents. Blair and family gave him a cribbage game, Joan and family gave him hobby books, we gave him two pairs of socks, a box of nuts and chocolates.
We played a card game and we actually beat Mom and Dad. Dad said you would have thought they would have let us win, since it’s my birthday!
Mom and Dad left at ten o’clock. Alex got ready for bed while we cleaned up the house. Charlie went to bed at eleven o’clock but I didn’t finish until after midnight.

Kelly woke me up just after five o’clock. He had been howling, but when I checked on him he was lying down. If he gets lonely he does that.
The problem was I couldn’t get back to sleep. I laid there for about an hour and decided to get up. Charlie was already up watching tv.
After I had a cup of tea, I had a shower and got dressed. Charlie said since you got up so early you should go to the parade too. Alex didn’t want to go unless I went with them.
We left before nine o’clock. There were a lot of people there already. We sat on Burrard Street just down from Georgia Street, pretty good seats. Alex and I found it too long. Charlie enjoyed it anyways.
After the parade we ran into our old neighbours from River Springs. Alex didn’t remember them at all. They said they were still living in River Springs.
We went to Eaton’s Centre to have lunch. I looked for a present for Dad but couldn’t find anything.
When we got home Charlie took his car in to get the tail lights fixed. The only lights that come on are the brake and headlights.
I tided up the house then Alex and I went to Coquitlam Centre. I bought Dad two pairs of socks, a box of assorted nuts and a package of chocolates.
When we got home I went for a nap. I was too tired from getting up so early Charlie was already home by that time.
After I woke up we went out for dinner. We came home afterwards.
Alex went to bed at nine o’clock. Unfortunately I forgot to give Alex his pill. I had to wake him up before midnight. I went to bed.

I woke up at nine o’clock. Alex and I had breakfast then I had a shower and got dressed. I did the dishes and tided up the house. I also rearranged our closet, the linen closet and the wall unit.
When Charlie came home he phoned a moving company to find out about their prices. Then he asked me how much Mom and Dad had to pay. I had no idea so I phoned Mom. She said it was $800 and she was going to give us $500 when we moved. I said thank you very much.
I told Charlie what Mom had said and Charlie phoned another place. When Charlie got off the phone I said I don’t know why you’re phoning moving companies when you haven’t even decided to put our house up for sale yet.
Charlie phoned Dean Manners, he tried to bargain over the commission price but Dean wouldn’t budge. I didn’t think he would. Dean told Charlie he could go for the Royal LePage Exclusive it’s 5% commission on the first $100,000. The only catch is it’s not put in the MLS.
Charlie told Dean he was ready to list the house. Dean said he could come over Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
We went to White Spot for dinner. The food didn’t make me feel very good. This is the second time I’ve eaten at Whit Spot that I’ve felt funny. I get a funny feeling in my right let. It last for a few hours, it must be from too much starch.
We went to Mom and Dad’s to tell them the news. We played a game of cards until nine thirty, then we came home.

I woke up at eight thirty. Alex and I had breakfast then I had a shower and got dressed.
I tided up the house and started to make lunch. Marla and the kids arrived before I had finished making lunch.
Marla asked if we had phoned their real estate agent yet. I said no, Charlie hadn’t decided yet who he was going to get. I told her Charlie had phoned someone and he was coming tonight.
The kids played quite well together except when Paxton decided to climb up on the top bunk bed. Alex told him he couldn’t do that and got him down. Paxton went crying to Marla. Paxton was still mad when Marla told him he couldn’t do that not when he had fallen off before.
They helped us pick up the toys before they left. Alex didn’t help very much. He got mad about something and sat in the living room.
We ate dinner at five thirty. After dinner we tided up the house.
Dean Manners from Royal LePage came at seven thirty. He showed us houses in the area that had sold in the last three months. Dean said he estimated our house to sell between $179 and $189. He asked us whether we would be willing to look at houses on Sunday. I said I would be but Charlie said no we were busy. Charlie told Dean, we wanted to think over everything first.
After Dean had left Charlie said he felt it was too soon and he felt rushed. It always takes Charlie awhile to make his mind.
I phoned Mom to let her know what had happened. She said she hoped Charlie would make up his mind soon.

I woke up at nine o’clock. The last few days I’ve slept in, I seem to be quite tired.
Alex and I had breakfast then I had a shower and got dressed. I cleaned the toilets then Alex helped me dust the furniture. Alex did a really good job dusting in our room. He did most of our room, I dusted the rest of the house. Alex also helped me clean the punch bow set and dust part of the wall unit. We had stopped for lunch for about an hour or so and continued on, we finished around three o’clock.
Charlie came home at four o’clock. We never did hear anything from the real estate agent. I talked to the receptionist at Royal LePage. She said she had worked there only a few days so she didn’t know how long ago he had left. I talked to someone else who seemed to be a salesman. He said the agent had left about a month and a half ago, he still had his license but wasn’t practicing anymore. He asked if he could help with anything but I said no it was okay.
Charlie wanted me to phone Marla and ask her who their agent is and if they know the agent very well. Marla said the agent they had for their old house was too pushy. The agent they bought form was really good, he’s from Greyfriars.
Charlie didn’t want to go with Greyfriars they have lower commission rates but the other real estate companies don’t always show their houses.
Charlie decided to phone Dean Manners of Royal LePage. We had seen him at an open house before and Charlie said he liked him. When Charlie phoned him he said he could come tomorrow night at seven thirty.
Alex went to bed at nine thirty. I watched tv and went to bed at eleven o’clock.

We ate dinner at five thirty. After dinner I went to Save ON Foods to get Kelly’s pills.

Alex woke me up at eight thirty. He wanted his breakfast, toast with peanut butter. Actually earlier this morning I had been awakened. Charlie had made so much noise I had woken up at six o’clock. It took me awhile to get back to sleep.
After breakfast I had a shower and got dressed. I washed Alex’s comforter and did the dishes. Then I got Alex to have a shower and get dressed.
We went to the doctors after eleven o’clock. Dr. C checked Alex first, he was acting really silly. Dr. C said you sure are silly today. Then it was my turn. She said I had put on two pounds this month. Dr. C said whatever you’re doing It must be working. Then she took my blood pressure and checked the baby. She said the baby is quite active.
Mom had asked me to ask the doctor how come I ended up with B positive blood. Dr. C said when the O positive replacement didn’t work and they used B negative replacement, the B dominants the O but a positive dominants a negative. Therefore you end up with B positive. Dr. C said you don’t have anything to worry about. I said I’m not worried we were just wondering how it works that way.
I also asked about Lyme disease we’ve been hearing so much about. Dr. C said when bitten by a tick the area breaks out in a rash. She said you would know if you had been bitten by a tick. I asked if mosquitoes bites were damaging to the baby like a tick would be. Dr. C said no not at all. She said she wants to see me in two weeks.

I woke up at eight o’clock. I didn’t sleep very well last night. Kelly barked and howled every half hour or so. Kelly wasn’t feeling very well and he wanted to come upstairs. I don’t like him to come up in case he has a seizure and falls down the stairs.
After I had given Kelly his medicine I had a shower and got dressed.
Alex woke up at eight thirty. We had our breakfast then I tidied up the house.
Shirley phoned at ten o’clock. I asked her what had happened to them last night. She said after the movie they wanted to go somewhere they could sing “happy birthday” to Monique. So they went to the Keg but by the time they left it was midnight. She said I was going to phone but I didn’t think it would take so long.
I said well are going to be home this afternoon? Shirley said they were having a picnic at Lions Park between twelve and six o’clock. People were suppose to be there no later than one o’clock. She kept on asking me what I could eat. I said I’ll just bring a sandwich.
We got there at one thirty. Only a few kids were there, Brent’s cousins. I found it very tiring as I had to keep an eye on Alex while he played at the playground. Shirley kept on asking me if she could get me something. I said no I’m fine.
We left at three thirty after the cake and Monique had opened her presents, Alex was mad that we had to leave, he wouldn’t even say good bye.
We went to the bank, London Drugs and the pet store. I bought my diabetic supplies which came to $45.44.
We got home shortly after four o’clock. Charlie had gotten home few minutes before us.
Mom phoned at four thirty and invited us for dinner. We went there at five o’clock. I’m afraid I wasn’t very good company. The birthday party earlier had really tired me out.
We came home at nine thirty. I went right to bed Charlie got Alex his snack and ready for bed.

I woke up at eight o’clock. Alex had come into our room. He said he wanted his breakfast. I got up and made our breakfast then I had a shower and got dressed.
After I had cleaned up the kitchen I exercised and wrote in the journal. Before lunch Alex and I made banana muffins. Then after lunch we made a double batch of bran muffins. Alex said he doesn’t like bran muffins as they have raisins in them.
By the time I cleaned up the kitchen it was two thirty. I wrote in the journal again and exercised then it was time for my snack.
I was going to return the movies but I forgot. The store phoned at twenty after four to remind us to return the movies.
Charlie went to the bank, to return the movies and buy a new battery for my car.
When Charlie came back we went out for dinner then we went to get my ring. The engagement ring looks so much better with the wedding band.
We got home at eight o’clock. Kelly had a seizure while we were out. I cleaned him up and gave him his pills.
Shirley and family were suppose to come over at nine thirty. After they had taken the kids to the movies but they never showed up. This is the second time Shirley has said she’ll come over and hasn’t turned up. Alex was mad that they didn’t come, he was looking forward to playing with Brent.
We went to bed at eleven o’clock. Charlie had gone to bed earlier, he has to work tomorrow.

I woke up at eight thirty. Alex and I had breakfast then I had a shower and got dressed.
Alex is feeling much better now. The trip had been quite hard on him, he was tired and cranky. The last few days he’s been getting a lot of sleep.
After I had my snack we went to Westwood mall to pay the MasterCard bill then we went to Pharmasave. I needed to buy a stamp to mail Kurt’s postcard. We also went to the video store to rent a couple of movies. When we got out to the car the battery was dead again. I phoned Mom and Dad since we were so close to home. I didn’t feel like phoning BCAA and waiting half an hour. Sitting around in the heat makes me feel ill. Mom and Dad came in a few minutes. They jump started the car. I had told them we could leave the car there I just didn’t want to wait for BCAA. Anyways they jump started the car and we all left.
In the afternoon I wrote in the journal and exercised. Charlie phoned while I was downstairs. He told Alex he would be home late.
I started to cook dinner at five thirty. After dinner we watched tv. Alex and I played bumper cars except Alex made up new rules. I sure don’t like when he does that, you never know if he’ll change them half way through the game again.
Alex and I had a fight while getting ready for bed. He always takes so long getting ready for bed. Then he’s so rough with me when he kisses and hugs me good night. I got mad at him, I’ve told him so many times not to do that as it hurts me. Alex cried and cried. He went to bed crying. I don’t like when he goes to bed crying. I went in a few minutes later and was able to make him laugh then he was okay.
I went to bed at eleven o’clock.

Diagnosis: Leukemia; August 9, 1989
I woke up at eight thirty. I checked my blood then I had breakfast, had a shower and got dressed. Alex had his breakfast as well.
I had a terrible cramp in my left leg last night, probably a Charlie Horse. I had been asleep and I woke up with a terrible pain. I couldn’t even get out of bed. I called Charlie, I said my leg, my leg. Charlie massaged it then I was able to get out of bed and walk around. Even so it still cramped up when I was walking around. When I went back to bed Charlie said you sure scared me. I wonder what he thought was happening!
A few hours later I woke up to have my hand go numb which seems to take a long time to come out. Not a very restful sleep I had!
I’m not feel that great today. I feel quite tired. After my snack and before lunch I took my blood but it was over normal. So I had to exercise again. After exercising it went back to normal. Milk has been added to my morning and afternoon snack so it’ll probably put up my sugar level. I find starches and fats put it up more than fruit.
When Charlie had come home from work, I went out by myself to return Alex’s library books which were overdue. Then I figured since I was out I might as well go and buy Monique’s birthday present.
I came home after five o’clock. We ate dinner at six o’clock. After dinner we watched tv. Alex went to bed at nine o’clock. I went to bed at ten o’clock.

I woke up to the at seven o’clock. I have to be at the diabetic clinic at nine thirty. I had breakfast, gave Kelly his pill and had my shower.
By the time I did everything and cleaned up the kitchen it was eight thirty. I woke Alex up and he had breakfast and got dressed.
I took Alex to Mom and Dad’s. I’m sure Alex will have a good time playing video games with Dad.
When I got to the clinic there were only a couple of seats left. There sure were a lot of people there. I read for awhile but I started to feel tired so I stopped. I didn’t get taken by Ann until ten fifteen. She said she didn’t know why my blood sugar went up when I hadn’t eaten anything. It went up between dinner and my last snack.
I saw Dr. B shortly afterwards, she said my counts were averaging normal. She said I won’t give you an appointment now but someone will phone you later. Dr. B said she would be away form the 28th of August until the 17th of September. She said she didn’t know if the other doctor would be having the clinic of Tuesday or not. Dr. B said she didn’t want to wait until she came back. Then Dr. B checked my blood pressure which was 130/70. She checked the baby, she said the baby was lying across my stomach. She said well you’re much more pregnant now.
Then I went to see the dietician Ellie. She asked me if I was hungry. I said no my diet plan seems to be okay. Ellie waited for my chart but then she said if everything is okay I don’t think I’ll wait for it. Ellie did add 1 cup of milk to my diet plan.
By the time I left the hospital it was almost eleven o’clock. I had to park on the street as the parking lot was open to card holders only.
Alex was waiting for me at the door, he waited until Dad told him to open the door. We stayed for a little while then we came home. Mom has to go to Royal Columbian Hospital for a scan of her kidney.
We didn’t do much for the rest of the afternoon. Alex played or watched tv. I rested, I’m still recuperating from our holidays.
Charlie came home at four o’clock. We ate inner at five thirty. After dinner we watched tv.
Alex went to bed at eight o’clock. I watched tv and went to bed at ten o’clock.

I woke up at seven o’clock. I have a few things to do before Allison and the kids arrive. After breakfast I made the beds and tided up the house. Charlie vacuumed the house and did a bit of dusting. I had my shower and got dressed. By that time Alex was awake I had made him his breakfast. Then I got Alex to have a shower and got dressed. Otherwise he would stay in his pajamas all morning!
Alex went outside to play in the sandbox. He said it was so hard waiting for Kurt to come.
I made tuna fish sandwiches for lunch. I thought it would be better to have everything ready before they arrived.
Allison and the kids arrived at eleven o’clock. She gave me a hug then said she had better go over and say hi to Nora who was out gardening. Charlie said I should go over as well. So Alex and I joined them.
Then Allison and the kids went over to Charlene’s to tell them they weren’t sure whether or not they were coming back in September or not.
Alex was getting very impatient and couldn’t understand what they were doing. He said I hope they aren’t going to see everyone in the neighbourhood!
After lunch we went outside. The kids played in the pool and the sandbox. We sat outside with the kids. I had to move into the shade it was so hot.
We came in at three o’clock. Pearl was starting to get tired. She usually has a nap in the afternoon.
Alex and Kurt had a good time playing, they hardly fought at all.
I thought it was funny when Kurt saw Nora. He told Allison not to talk to strangers. Allison said Nora isn’t a stranger don’t you remember Kurt, William and Daniel? Kurt didn’t remember any of them.
They left at four o’clock. Allison said they would be going home on Wednesday morning.
I was really tired when they left. It just doesn’t’ seem to take much to tire me out.
We had a barbequed chicken for dinner. After dinner we watched tv. Alex went to bed at nine o’clock. I went to bed at eleven o’clock.

I woke up at seven o’clock, I had a cramp in my leg again. Once I was awake I figured there wasn’t any point in going back to sleep.
After breakfast I had a shower and got dressed.
Before lunch we went to K-Mart, Mom said they had quite a few good sale items on. They had jeans on for $4.00 but they were for big kids. We bought Alex a pair of beige pants which were $8.00 and Alex bought himself a Batman sweatshirt.
We came home, I was too tired to walk around. Our holiday took a lot out of me. It’s funny I felt find while I was away but when we got home I was really tired. Of course I didn’t eat as well as I should have. I did show keytones a bit while we were away but I’m not any more. I think I was eating too many starchy foods. For some reason starch especially bread increases my blood sugar.
We went to a Won Ton House for dinner and came home. I gave Kelly his pills and Alex some of his toys before we went to Mom and Dad’s.
Alex and Dad played video games. We didn’t stay very long, we came home at ten o’clock. Alex and I had a snack then we went to bed.

Alex woke me up at eight o’clock. He said he wanted breakfast and he wanted peanut butter toast. I told him we hadn’t bought any bread since we got home. Alex said then he didn’t want anything to eat. I said why don’t we go to McDonald’s then. Alex thought that was a good idea. I got ready to go, Charlie said he wanted to come too. He was out washing his car. I told him to hurry up as we were going soon. I think he forgets I have to eat at certain times of the day.
After McDonald’s we went to Toy City. Barbara had given Alex money. He was going to buy the Turtle blimp but they didn’t have it. Alex decided to buy two micro masters sets; an emergency set and the battle block. Then we went to the mall.
We went to People’s Jewellery first, the sales man Martin said he would be in last Thursday. He said he would be away but Linda would be looking after the ring we ordered. When we asked for Linda the sales woman said she wasn’t in but could she help us. Charlie said we had ordered a ring and wondered if it was in yet. The sales woman went to the ring case and said a ring came in and we didn’t know why. When we asked about the discount which was over July 31st, she said that was over last week. We told her Martin had told us we would be getting 25% off at least. She said he didn’t have the right to do that. I said so what happens now. She said we have to honour the 25% off. We bought the ring but it has to be resized and will be ready on Monday.
We stopped at Mom and Dad’s to get my key back which I forgot last night.
Alex and I didn’t do very much in the afternoon. Charlie was trying to fix the lights on his car, the tail lights aren’t working.
After dinner we watched tv. Then I went to bed, Charlie got Alex ready for bed.

I sure didn’t sleep very well last night. First I woke up at twelve thirty, I thought it was about five o’clock. I couldn’t believe it when it was only twelve thirty. I woke up on and off throughout the early morning. I woke up at five and got up to see what time it was, still too early to get up. Then I woke up again at six o’clock and decided I would get up then. Charlie and Alex were fast asleep. I had a shower and got dressed. The shower woke Charlie up but he soon went back to sleep.
I wrote in the journal until they woke up which was after seven o’clock. Alex had a shower and I helped him get dressed. Then I packed everything and Charlie put everything into the car.
We went to Smitty’s at eight o’clock. We started driving home at nine o’clock. We hadn’t been driving very long when I asked Charlie to pull into the scenic view point. He thought I wanted to look at the view but I wanted to drive. The highway is quite a winding roadway and I find I get quite queasy on a drive like that. It probably would help if he didn’t drive so fast.
We stopped at Revelstoke for lunch at McDonald’s. Alex had an ice cream cone after their lunch. Alex got ice cream on his nose. We thought it was quite funny but Alex was mad and spit chocolate ice cream all over Charlie. Charlie had to change his shirt and now he’s mad.
We left Revelstoke around one o’clock. We reached Kamloops at two fifteen. Charlie would have loved to stop in at Blair’s but there are too many reasons not to go.
I drove until Merritt then Charlie took over. He seemed to be glad to drive again, he looked very bored the last few hours. Even though the road is pretty straight, Charlie’s driving still bothers me. After I told him I would have to drive soon, he slowed down which really helped. For some reason the speed of the car makes me feel nauseated.
We didn’t get home until almost six o’clock. Charlie ordered a delivery of Chinese food for dinner. I started to unpack all our clothes.
I phoned Mom to let her know we were back. She said Kelly had one seizure on August 1 and he hadn’t had one since. I told her we would be down later.
We ate dinner then we got ready to go to Mom and Dad’s. When we got there Kelly was much the same pretty out of it. Before any medication he would have been very excited to see us and really greeted us. When I sat down he came over and sat very close so I could pat his head. He also sat close to Alex, he wanted our attention.
We came home at ten o’clock. Alex and I had a snack and went to bed.

I woke up at seven thirty. I had breakfast then I got dressed and finished packing everything.
Alex woke up before nine o’clock. He said he couldn’t have a shower he wasn’t feeling well. Alex asked me if they had any fruit cup. I said I would go check. I helped Alex get dressed then he laid on the bed while I went to the kitchen. They didn’t have any fruit cup. Before I went back to tell Alex this , I went to the living room to see if I could find Batman, Joker and Penguin. They had gone missing last night and I wanted to find them before we went home. I knew if I didn’t he would probably ask about them on the way home.
Charlie had talked to Alex and told him there was no fruit cup. Alex said he was hungry but he didn’t know what to eat. Charlie suggested cereal, toast or a donut. Alex decided upon a donut and a drink of water.
When I went to see how Alex was doing he had fallen asleep while eating his donut! He said he wanted to finish it. Alex sure must be tired!
By the time we left Lin’s house it was nine thirty. Lin said she would pay the speeding ticket, I got at Jasper. Lin works in the traffic department were they issue tickets.
We went to McDonald’s for breakfast. I didn’t have anything as I had already eaten earlier. Alex seemed to feel much better after going to McDonald’s. He went on the slide and merry-go-round before we left.
Then we started our long drive to Golden. The highway to Calgary is pretty boring, it’s very straight and you can’t see the end. We turned off at Old’s and had lunch at Dairy Queen. Simon said there’s a short cut to go to Banff therefore you don’t have to go through Calgary. After Olds the highway is under construction and it’s just a dirt road. Really terrible driving conditions, it was making me feel ill. Then we missed the intersection for Highway 22. We asked in the next town and we had to go back a ways. There isn’t a proper sign so it’s so wonder we missed it. We turned too soon and we’re on a country road before we realized it, it wasn’t the right road. We turned left at an intersection, a 4 way stop and finally we were able to find the highway! After that we had no trouble. We were going to stop at Banff or Lake Louise but the weather wasn’t very good. It’s very windy and rainy. We got to Golden at five thirty, they’re not on Mountain time. We thought we would gain an hour at Golden but we will tomorrow when we go home. After we found a motel we went for dinner.
After dinner Charlie suggested we go for a drive but I was too tired. I just wanted to go back to the motel room and rest.
I wrote in the journal and went to bed at nine o’clock. Charlie got Alex ready for bed.

Diagnosis: Leukemia; August 2, 1989
Alex kept me awake last night, he coughed and coughed. I gave him a drink of water but I didn’t have any cough syrup. I hope it didn’t disturb Lin and Simon.
I woke up at eight o’clock. I had a shower first to help me wake up. I’m really tired. I had breakfast and went to wake up Alex. Of course he didn’t want to get up yet. He’s been sleeping so late the last few days, he hasn’t had enough sleep.
We went to West Edmonton mall, our last day. We went to Fantasyland first. We just bought tickets this time. Alex went on the play area, the planes, and the merry-go-round. When we came out of Fantasyland there was a puppet show on. Alex sat down in front of the show. I sat further back while Charlie stayed with Alex. I couldn’t stand up that long.
When the puppet show was over we went to McDonald’s for lunch. Then we went shopping in the mall. Alex bought a GI Joe guy from Toy City. I bought Mom a Calgary football pin and Charlie bought Dad a coffee cup. I bought Alex a t-shirt and myself a maternity top. The maternity top was on 50% off which is very unusual for Shirley K for it to be that cheap for a t-shirt just $15.99.
By the time we got back to Lin’s house, it was after four o’clock. Lin and the kids came back at four thirty. Lin was preparing the meat for a B.B.Q tonight. She invited Barbara and her family. There was too much meat. They had steak, pork chops, chicken and fish. Lin had also prepared potatoes, which I did in the microwave. We ate before Barbara and her family arrived. When I was finished I went into our room and wrote in the journal for about two hours. There’s no point in me sitting with them since they usually speak Chinese. It’s very uncomfortable sitting there not knowing what they are talking about.
Alex was playing with his cousins. Lin asked me what I was doing. By that time I had already started to pack up our clothes. I also did our laundry then I and my snack.
Alex was really upset he said none of the other kids would play with him. I said well you’ve been quite bossy with the other kids maybe that’s why.
Later I found out the Tina, Joel and Sandy were playing a game. They had asked Alex if he wanted to play but he said he didn’t want to. Beau got a game out to play with Alex. They played for awhile then I got Alex ready for bed.
Barbara and her family left before Alex went to bed. Barbara gave Alex $50, he sure is lucky.
I thanked Lin for having us, she said to come back again and to let her know when the baby comes.
I went to bed at eleven o’clock.

Diagnosis: Leukemia; August 1, 1989
I woke up at eight o’clock. I had breakfast and a shower.
Lin and Simon are working this week, the children stay at the grandmother’s house. So it’s pretty quiet in the morning.
Alex slept until eleven o’clock but he still looks tired.
We went to Eaton Centre. We had lunch then we walked around. They have three floors, the third floor is the food fair and the theatre; the first and second floor is shopping. It’s located in the downtown area. It’s very nicely designed.
Charlie and I were discussing whether or not to buy Alex another pair of shoes for school. Alex demanded we stop arguing. I told him not to talk to me like that. Next thing, Alex is yelling and stomping his foot. I told him to be quiet. He continued to tell me what I could do. I sat him down and told him I would not tolerate him telling me what to do. It took about ten minutes before he finally listened to me. Meanwhile he had cried on and off.
We left right after our discussion. We looked at the parliament buildings and promptly got lost quite a number of times. Finally we were able to get back to the house.
I had a nap, I was so tired. I slept for a few hours. By the time I woke up Lin and the kids came home.
At seven o’clock we left to go to Wonderland, a Chinese Seafood Restaurant. Both sisters and family plus us went. After dinner we went to Barbara and Andy’s house. It sure was hot, I could hardly stand it. It’s been very muggy lately.
We came to Lin’s house at ten thirty. Alex had a snack and went to bed at eleven o’clock. I went to bed as well.
