I woke up at nine o’clock to hear the phone ringing. It was Shirley she wondered how Alex was. I said he seems to be fine. That he has a temperature, a low blood count and is on an I.V. She said don’t worry he’ll be okay, phone me from the hospital if you need someone to talk to.
I had breakfast, a shower and got dressed. I did a few things around the house. I left around eleven o’clock. I went to Canada Trust and Toy City. I bought a couple of presents for Alex.
When I got to the hospital Mom and Dad were there. They had the gowns and masks on. They sure looked strange, they reminded me of a story Alex has about Sesame Street going to visit a hospital.
Charlie left shortly after I got there. Mom and Dad stayed until three thirty and left.
Alex and I used the Spiro-tot I bought him. He had listened to tapes with the walkman I had brought when I came.
Charlie came back at six o’clock, and brought me dinner.
It sure is hard handling Alex in the hospital. He’s very energetic and bored! He says bad things and argues a lot.
I left at eight o’clock, Charlie stayed again tonight. When I got home I watched TV and did some work around the house.
It sure is strange not having Charlie and Alex in the house. Kelly has been very sympathetic, he keeps very close to me. He’s very glad to see me when I get home.
I went to bed at eleven o’clock.
