Diagnosis: Leukemia; December 11-17, 1989

December 11, 1989

Samantha ate at four, ten, one, for, seven forty five and ten thirty.

Alex went to school and came home afterwards. We ate dinner five thirty.

Alex says he wants the Turtle Blimp from Santa for Christmas. From us the Bat mobile, I’ve left it too late and I can’t find it anywhere. So far consumers is the only ones who sell it.

I have to be careful not to do too much. I had a breast infection last week. It wasn’t painful, it made me feel like I had the flu. First of all I became very cold and shivered. So I had an extremely hot shower and went to bed. I had to wear sweats to bed. Then I woke up at three in the morning feeling really hot. Marla told me what breast infections felt like so at least I knew all the symptoms. Feeding Samantha was rather painful but I got over it. A hot water bottle really helps.

This week I had similar symptoms but this time it was the flu. Luckily it was over quite soon.

Samantha had a feeding at four o’clock and at eight o’clock. After her feedings I had a shower, got dressed and had my breakfast.

Charlie and Alex went to the hospital this morning. The doctor increased Alex’s medication; Mercaptopurine 1 pill alternating to ¾ pill daily, Methotrexiate 5 ½ pills weekly and the other medication to stay the same.

I fed Samantha at noon, Charlie and Alex came home shortly afterwards. Charlie took the day off so I wouldn’t have to take Alex in. I thought that was nice of him since it would have been very tiring for me.

We at dinner at five thirty. I fed Samantha at six o’clock.

Alex went to bed at eight o’clock. I thought Sam would have woken up earlier. I waited until eleven thirty and was just getting to bed when she woke up. By the time I fed Sam it was twelve thirty, then we went to bed.
