Diagnosis: Leukemia; May 19, 1988

I woke up at nine o’clock to hear Alex say WHERE IS PA! I said he went to work. Alex said then you’ll have to take me to White Spot. I told him I wasn’t going to take him today and he would have to talk to Pa.

Mom had given Alex two Dinosaurs that they had gotten from White Spot. She had also given Alex posters and a dinosaurs shirt.

Alex had hot cereal for breakfast. I made bran muffins which Alex help make.

Alex watched TV while I had a shower and got dressed. When I was drying my hair Alex came in and said the phone is ringing but I’m not answering it. He’s like I was when I was a kid, I hated to answer the phone.

Mom had phoned and I phoned her back. She was wondering how Alex was.

I had phoned the dentist earlier to find out if the swelling on Alex’s jaw could be from Alex grinding his teeth. Megan said oh my kids use to get pinworms when there jaw swelled up but that’s not your problem. Some people have no brains. She knew that Alex has Leukemia so why say something so stupid. Megan said well we can’t fit you in today and the long weekend is coming so you’ll have to come on Tuesday at noon. That really annoyed me, if someone has a problem why not try and see them right away.

I forgot that’s gym day so I’ll have to cancel the appointment tomorrow.

Alex and I had lunch then we went to Dinosaur delight. I came home and did a lot of work around the house. After I picked Alex up form his class we went to Overwaite to get a few groceries.

We got home at three o’clock. Alex wanted a snack then he watched some of his shows on tv.

Charlie came home at four o’clock. We started to cook dinner and ate at five thirty. After dinner Alex and I played video games. Then we went outside for awhile.

Alex went to bed at nine o’clock. I watched tv and wrote in the journal. It’s eleven o’clock. I’m going to bed now.
