I woke up at ten o’clock, feeling so much better from all that sleep. Alex wasn’t up yet, so I had a shower and got dressed.
Alex woke up, I gave him a bath and got him dressed. Alex kept on crying, he said his hand hurt that it had a cut on it. I put a band-aid on it which made Alex feel a lot better.
I made breakfast and finished getting ready to go to the hospital. Alex had lunch at noon then we left.
Joan the receptionist put us into a side room, we weren’t allowed into the clinic. Alex wasn’t too happy about that he wanted to play with the toys. The room had some books, so I read Alex about four books. Then Alex said he wan hungry, I told him I didn’t want to leave him alone. Alex said he could stay by himself that he wanted something to eat. I talked to Evelyn and she said does he want to stay by himself? I told her he did that he was really hungry. She said well if he needs someone, tell him to stick his head out the door and to call for Evelyn or Joan.
When I came back Alex said what took you so long. I was scared being by myself in this room. I told him I just got what you told me to get.
Earlier Heather had come to ask how Alex was. She said it looked like Alex’s face was still swollen. I told her I wanted her to check Alex’s mouth, it looked like there is a lot of flesh. Heather checked Alex’s mouth, she said it was probably from the swelling.
Then Mary came to do a blood test. Heather came back to take Alex to be weighed and measured. She said Alex had to wear a mask. When Alex came back he said he didn’t like wearing it, it was hard to see.
Dr. S came to check Alex. She thought that Alex’s face was still swollen. Dr. S said she hadn’t gotten all the tests results back yet, but part of it came back saying non active for mumps. The funny thing is that Heather had said the test came back saying that Alex had a virus but at that time they didn’t know what kind of virus. Mumps are suppose to be a type of virus.
I told Dr. S that Alex has had a cold since the middle of April and when was it going to go away. She said well it couldn’t be a cold maybe he has a allergy to something, ask your doctor for an antihistamine. I told her Charlie had allergies.
Then I asked her when the next two appointments would be and I explained about us wanted to go on our holidays. She said we’ll figure that out next month. Then I asked her if it was alright for Alex to go to the United States. She was close to being very rude. She said as long as it’s in the month between appointments, there is no problem, now if he’s sick that’s different. Her attitude sure stinks!! I said that’s fine I just wanted to make sure.
Alex and I went to the pharmacy. They told us to come back in 15 or 20 minutes. We walked around the hospital, I didn’t feel like staying in the room and coming back. It’s hard being in the room with Alex, he seems to be quite tired and very irritated.
After we got the prescription we came back to the room. Lenore came to give Alex his Chemo. She got some bubbles for Alex to blow and while he was blowing she put the needle in. Alex cried after it was in and after he had looked. It seems that once he saw the needle in he realized that it would have to hurt. Lenore said you cried after you looked, so it couldn’t have hurt.
I picked a prize for him then we went home. We got home at four fifteen.
Charlie cooked dinner tonight, I sure didn’t feel like cooking dinner. After dinner I cleaned up the kitchen and did the dishes.
Then we went to Dairy Queen, Charlie had a coupon for two free sundaes. We went to Save-On-Foods to get some more bedding plants. We got home around eight o’clock.
Alex went to bed at nine o’clock much to his disgust.
I wrote in the journal and watched TV. I went to bed at ten thirty.
