Diagnosis: Leukemia; June 27, 1989

Charlie woke me up before seven o’clock. I have to drive him to the motor vehicle branch today. I had a shower, tested my blood and had my breakfast. Charlie woke up Alex, got him to have a shower and gave him his breakfast. I asked Charlie to give Kelly his pill before we left.

Charlie was complaining that we were going to be late since we left at eight o’clock. When we got there, they weren’t open until eight thirty. We had to wait twenty minutes. Charlie lined up at the door so he wouldn’t have to wait once they opened. Charlie had no problem getting his drivers license renewed even though it had already expired.

We got home before nine o’clock. Charlie rushed to go to work. Alex phoned Patrick to come over to play. They played until eleven o’clock when Patrick went home. Alex was really mad. He asked Patrick if he could come with him but Patrick said he wanted to go home. I think Patrick didn’t understand what Alex meant.

I wrote in the journal, after lunch and did the laundry.

I started to cook dinner at five o’clock. Charlie didn’t get home until six o’clock.

After dinner we went to Mom and Dad’s to see their new car. They traded in the Subaru for a newer Subaru. Dad said the old one didn’t have enough power especially for going up hills. I liked the new one a lot better, it’s a sand color and the shape is much nicer.

Mom said the doctor told her that her x-ray was okay. Dad said it’s a terrible ordeal having the stomach x-rayed since they also x-rayed the colon. They have insert something into the rectum. Mom still has to go for a physical before Cr. C will change her pills.

We came home at nine thirty. Charlie went to bed while I got Alex ready for bed. Alex finally decided he wanted a banana boat for a snack. After he had eaten it he said he had a stomach ache. I told him to get ready for bed. Alex complained he couldn’t get ready by himself. I helped him and Alex finally got into bed with a few cars and a couple of turtles. I went to bed at eleven o’clock.
