Diagnosis: Leukemia; November 4, 1989

Samantha woke up at twelve thirty for her feeding. I had trouble getting her to go back to sleep. I had tea around ten o’clock so maybe the caffeine kept her up. I fed her again at one forty five. This time she slept until four forty five and went back to sleep again.

Samantha woke up before eight o’clock. After I had fed her I had a shower and got dressed. When I came out of the bathroom, Samantha was crying. I fed her again at nine thirty and put her back to her crib but she started to cry again. I fed Samantha again at eleven o’clock. I was exhausted from Samantha having so many feedings.

Alex and I went to Super store to buy a few groceries, a blanket that matches Alex’s comforter and a box of free diapers.

When we came home Samantha was awake again. Mom said she had messed in her pants. She had clean her up and Charlie was holding her.

I fed Samantha at one o’clock and put her back to her crib. She slept this time until dinner time.

I was so tired I went for a nap and slept until four o’clock. We ate dinner at four thirty. Just as we started to eat Samantha woke up. I fed her while we ate dinner. When she was finished eating I put her to bed.

Samantha woke up on and off until I fed her again at eight thirty. Mom kept on asking me if I was alright. I said I was fine. She said you seem rather cranky. I said with Samantha not sleeping very well I find it tiring.

Alex went to bed at nine thirty. He sure has a good time playing Mario with Dad.

I went to bed at ten o’clock.
