Diagnosis: Leuekemia; March 19, 1990

I woke up at eight thirty. Actually Alex woke me up to get his breakfast. Charlie had gone grocery shopping.

I was surprised and worried that Samantha hadn’t woken me up earlier. She had moved in the other direction and had the blanket over her differently. When Charlie came back I asked him if Sam woke up earlier and he said yes. He thought I wanted to sleep so he gave her her soother. It was nice to sleep longer but it isn’t good for Sam. I told Charlie not to do that but you know him!

I made Alex his breakfast then I fed Samantha. I put Sam in her playpen while I had my breakfast. She’s really good in her playpen and doesn’t complain except if she’s tired or hungry.

I got ready to take Kelly to the vet. I put a load of washing on before I left.

We saw Dr. H, he said Kelly is about twenty pounds over weight. He then checked Kelly over, gave him his shots, trimmed his nails and scaled some of his teeth. Dr. H said to continue on as we have.

When I came home I had a shower and got dressed. Then I fed Samantha and put her in her playpen. I made my lunch and ate it before putting Sam to bed.

Alex was playing outside with Rick, Luke and Wanda. Rick was being really rough, so we called Alex in. Alex was annoyed of course. Rick was using a stick and hitting everyone. Charlie said he saw Rick hit Alex and just miss his eye. Alex said he was going outside. I said you need to rest or you won’t be able to have a party. Alex said I don’t care, I’m going outside. I said fine I’ll phone everyone and tell them you can’t have a party. Alex screamed NO! I said then behave yourself. Alex stayed in his room for awhile then he came out and apologized.

I cleaned up the kitchen and started to cook dinner.

Jeff phoned at four o’clock for Mom and Dad’s phone number. He said he took Kim shopping but he wasn’t going to run her around this week, he didn’t have the time. I said she asked me if I had a car.

At four thirty Sam woke up for her next feeding. Then she went into her crib while we ate dinner. Samantha went to bed at six thirty. I did the dishes, put away the laundry and wrote in the journal.

It’s almost eight o’clock. I’ll watch TV, get Alex ready for bed, feed Samantha, get Sam to bed before going to bed myself.
