Diagnosis: Leukemia; March 26, 1990

Samantha woke up at six o’clock. She sure isn’t feeling very well. Sam has a terrible cold and a cough, she has a hard time breathing her nose is so plugged up.

When I fed Samantha, she didn’t eat very much. Sam didn’t want to stay in the playpen and she wasn’t happy when I put her into her crib. All morning I spent holding or soothing her in her crib. Nothing seems to make her happy. Well there is, actually holding Sam with her soother and rocking her. This will put her to sleep.

At noon after I had given her Tempra she threw up. I was holding her and she threw up all over my back. It sure was hard getting my shirt off with out getting it all over myself.

I phoned the doctors office, Dr. C is on maternity leave. Dr. F is taking over for her. The receptionist said Dr. F is seeing all Dr. C maternity patients today, you’ll have to see someone else. All the doctors are booked so you’ll have to wait to see someone. She said to come after two thirty.

I took Alex to school and came home. Samantha ate again but not very much. I took Sam’s temperature it was 37.8C.

Miriam said when I went to pick up Alex that Susanna had a baby girl. Morgan asked if Alex could come over but I said we were going to order Alex’s cake. She said how about tomorrow. I said that would be fine.

We went to the doctors after school. It was pretty strange, we ended up seeing Dr. F. I don’t care for her too much. Of course it didn’t help when she said Samantha was so small. It’s getting quite irritating. To me she’s put on quite a lot. She actually has rolls and Sam isn’t short, she’s considered average for her height.

Anyways Dr. F checked her over and said her chest was clear and her stomach was okay. Hopefully it isn’t a virus she said. She asked what solids Samantha was eating. I said nothing just milk. The only things she’ll take in her mouth are a soother or milk. Dr. F suggested trying her on biscuits and to start her on Fer-in-sol. She also said she wanted to check Samantha for a urine test. A bag fitted on baby’s at home and brought back to the lab. All supplied by the lab.

Dr. F said to come in again in two weeks or if Samantha has a fever or throws up again.

Then we went to order Alex’s cake. Alex had said he wanted a Turtle cake, he just had to have a Turtle cake! So what does he order but BATMAN! Alex said the two Turtle cakes were skinny or too fat. He has all Turtle party stuff so I figure it would look better with a Turtle cake but Alex wouldn’t have it!

Then we went to Save On Foods for baby cereal and Fer-in-Sol. By the time we got home it was five o’clock.

Charlie was already home and of course he asked what’s for dinner. If I really knew at that point! We decided on chicken for dinner which Charlie cooked. Samantha wouldn’t sleep in her crib. The only way was to hold her.

We watched the Oscars then I put Samantha to bed but she was up in no time.

Alex feel asleep on the couch at six o’clock and woke up at eight o’clock. Charlie got him ready for bed at nine o’clock.

I fed Samantha at nine and put her to bed. She cried again at ten thirty and finally went to sleep. I went to bed as well.
