Diagnosis: Leukemia; March 2, 1989

I woke up at nine o’clock. Alex and I had breakfast then I had a shower and got dressed.

Mom phoned before eleven to tell me she had gone to the hospital and taken Dad home. I said isn’t that a bit soon. Mom said she thought so but the doctor said he was discharged today.

In the afternoon, Alex played while I rested. I don’t have much energy. I’m so tired. It’s a bit hard on Alex since I’m not doing as much with him as I usually do.

Charlie got home at four o’clock. We ate dinner at five thirty. After dinner we went down to Mom and Dad’s to see how Dad was doing.

Dad looked very pale, he did a lot of pacing around the house. Around eight o’clock Dad cried out in pain. He was in the kitchen when it happened. It looked like he was falling backwards but Alex had put a chair there. Dad was coloring a picture and Alex was watching him.

Dad was in agony, Mom and Charlie got him upstairs. Then Mom got him his P.J.‘s and got him into bed.

Lars came shortly afterwards, he stayed for a short time and left.

We stayed for a short time after Dad was in bed.

Alex got ready for bed at nine o’clock. I went to bed shortly afterwards.
