Diagnosis: Leukemia; April 5, 1990

Samantha woke up at six thirty. After I had fed her I had my breakfast. Alex woke up at eight o’clock. I made Alex his breakfast. All he’s eating for breakfast now is hot cereal, apple flavour.

Then I had a shower, got dressed and did a few things around the house.

Samantha was in her crib but she didn’t go for a nap.

Lanie phoned to ask Alex to bring his sticker book. She sure sounded different on the phoned.

We left at ten o’clock to go to Marla’s. when we got there Paxton and Lanie were outside. I said hi Paxton. He was surprised to see us. He said Alex is here. I said what have you got. He said dirt. I said dirt? What are you doing? Paxton said I’m planting carrots.

We went in through the front door. Marla said they’re planting the seeds in the flower pots.

The morning went by pretty quickly. We had lunch at eleven thirty then it was time to take the kids to school. We left at 12:05 p.m. and got to school at 12:15 p.m. so we went home since I forgot to get Alex his snack. I also brought the bag of clothes to be retuned to Marla.

After I had taken Alex to school I went back to Marla’s. We got there before she did. We had a visit before we had to go back to get the kids.

Marla said her father had two heart attacks one at work and one at home. She said they weren’t considered a serious heat attack. He seems to have recovered and is coming over with Marla’s mother possibly in the summer.

Marla’s babysitter is taking eight weeks off in the summer, she’s going to Europe. Marla won’t be working during that time.

When Alex, Sam and I came home from school, I made a chocolate cake and did the dishes. Samantha was taking a nap and was she ever tired. She didn’t have a nap all day.

Charlie got home at four o’clock. We started to cook dinner, we ate at five thirty.

Charlie helped me to do the cake, it had to be cut off the top, so it was flat when it was flipped over. Then I iced it Alex had the leftover icing.

I fed Samantha at six thirty and again at ten o’clock.
