Diagnosis: Leukemia; July 11, 1987

Alex woke me up at nine o’clock. Charlie had told Alex it was late and I should get out of bed.

Charlie and I made breakfast, Alex had toast. We all went downstairs, Charlie worked on the frame work. I cleaned up the basement. Then we went and cleaned up the garage. We hung a lot of the stuff up. Charlie swept one side and I swept the other side. It sure looks a lot better.

We went to Burger King and McDonalds’ for dinner. Then we went to Mom and Dad’s. We hadn’t been there very long when Alex said he had to go home. I told him no that we had just got there. Alex started to cry he said he wanted to go home and play. I told him if we went home he would go to bed. I took him into Mom and Dad’s bedroom and told him to lie down. Alex started to cry again. Dad came in and talked to him, I went back into the dining room.

Dad told him a story which seemed to help Alex. I think Alex was just tired. We left at ten o’clock, Alex fell asleep on the way home. I put Alex to bed when we got home.

I went to bed around midnight.
