Diagnosis: Leukemia; July 2, 1987

The alarm went off at 5:45 a.m. I got out of bed and got Alex his medicine. Alex slept in our bed last night. Charlie held Alex while I gave him his medicine. I brought Alex a drink to wash it down. We all went back to sleep.

I woke up at ten o’clock, I was about to have a shower but Alex woke up. I made Alex breakfast, he wanted cold cereal. I made myself French toast and then Alex wanted some.

Alex and I didn’t do much, we played a few games and watched TV. I felt really tired and I had cramps.

Charlie went and had his hair permed. He phoned and I told him I found a flea on my foot. I asked him to buy Kelly a flea collar and soap. After Charlie came home he went to the bank. I thought we could pay the taxes at the bank, since it said that on the back of the form. Charlie was mad when he came back. He got ready for work and left.

I made Alex dinner, I thought if he had dinner early he wouldn’t have diarrhea when he had his medicine. He had diarrehea after his noon medicine. Just after he had his dinner at four o’clock Alex had diarrhea.

Alex played for awhile and he asked me to play with him. We played with the puzzles.

I got Alex ready for bed after seven o’clock. He was asleep before eight o’clock.

I wrote in the journal most of the night. I hadn’t written in the journal for three days. I cleaned up the house and put away the towels. It’s 11:30 p.m., I have to wait until midnight to give Alex his medicine.

We have to be at the hospital at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. I’ll have to be up at six o’clock tomorrow to give Alex his medicine and there’s no point I guess to go back to bed.
