Diagnosis: Leukemia; October 11, 1989

*May not be suitable for all readers, when I blog about my pregnancy*

We didn’t have a very good sleep last night. Alex started coughing at ten thirty, I gave him Tempra which took about an hour before he stopped coughing. By midnight Alex was asleep.

Alex started to cough again at seven o’clock. We both got up, I gave him cough medicine. Alex laid on the sofa with a blanket while I had a shower and got dressed.

I wrote in the journal after breakfast. Alex asked me to help him write a story. This time it was quite long. It was one loose leaf paper long and it’s still not finished. I was tired from all the writing.

I sewed up Mr Bears arm and put him in the washing machine. He came out really clean, he looks like a new bear!

After lunch we went to Mom and Dad’s. the school phoned while I was still there. The school secretary said she had phoned me at 1:10p.m. and 1:45 p.m. and no one was home. I said I was home during that time. She asked me if I wanted the R.C.M.P. contacted if Alex didn’t get to school and they couldn’t get a hold of anyone. I said yes I did. She said both no and yes were checked. I said I only remember checking yes.

I went to see Dr. Be while Alex stayed with Mom and Dad.

I didn’t have to wait long today. Dr. Be checked to see how far down the baby is. He said the baby is as far down as it can go but the cervix is not dilated yet. It could be any day now. If you don’t have the baby in a week and a day I’ll induce the labour.

Dr. Be said he wanted to see me again next week. I made an appointment for next Wednesday at 10:45 a.m.

I went to Nu Like to see if I could find a nursing bra. Luckily I was able to get one. I had tried Eaton’s and Woodward’s but none of their bra’s fit.

Then I went to London Drugs, I returned the Dorcol cough medicine since it doesn’t seem to be working.

When I came home Alex had come home with Charlie. Charlie was making chicken rice, he said Alex wanted that for dinner.

I ate dinner at five thirty while Charlie and Alex ate after six o’clock. I didn’t feel like having chicken rice, Charlie likes to have it almost every week.

After dinner I talked to Dr. C. I have a bit of blood when I go to the bathroom and I wanted to check with her. I explained to her Dr. Be had felt inside for the baby’s head to see how far down it was and I wondered if that was why. She said most likely but if there is any fluid to call her right away. Dr. C said the ultra sound should showed that everything was okay. I told her it was painful when they took the picture of the baby’s head. She said that was too bad but you won’t have to have another one. I said good I wouldn’t be able to stand it.

After dinner Alex watched Cosby and put away his toys. Alex went to bed at eight thirty.

I watched tv and went to bed at nine thirty.
