Alex woke up coughing at a quarter to five. I gave him cough medicine but then it takes an hour or so for him to stop coughing. Alex slept with me again. He feels better sleeping with me, he looks a bit better than he did at the beginning of the week.
I woke up at eight thirty. I had a shower, got dressed and had my breakfast.
Alex woke up at ten o’clock. He’s coughing again. I wish he could get rid of this cold and cough. He has to go to the hospital next week. I hope his counts are okay.
At least today we don’t have any doctor appointments. In the afternoon Alex and I went to Mom and Dad’s. Mom took my blood pressure it’s 120/80. It’s been hard keeping on the diets nothing seems that appealing right now.
I forgot to mention that we took Alex to the doctors yesterday at four fifty. We saw Dr. Br as Dr. C was away on a course and Dr. Ba wasn’t in. Alex had complained around four o’clock that his chest hurt. I didn’t know if he had an infection or if it was from coughing too much.
Dr. Br looked at us rather funny when we told him Alex has a cough and cold. He said there’s a lot of that going around. I told him Alex has Leukemia and that Alex said his chest hurt. I wanted to make sure he was okay. After I told him that he seemed to understand our concern.
Dr. Br read Alex’s chart and asked a few questions about him. Then he checked his chest, stomach and throat. He said he couldn’t hear anything so Alex didn’t have an infection. The doctor said we should keep an eye on him. If Alex gets a temperature, has a lack of appetite or he seems more irritable, we should bring him in again. He said he would be in this Saturday.
Dr. Br said he wouldn’t prescribe any medication as he doesn’t want to interfere with the doctors at Children’s Hospital.
We took Alex to McDonald’s for dinner then we came home.
Now back to today’s events. We ate dinner at six o’clock. After dinner Alex watched Cosby then he put away his toys.
Alex went to bed at eight o’clock. I went to bed at nine o’clock. I feel really worn out this week, not getting enough sleep has been hard on me. This morning I couldn’t see properly. Part of my vision of my right eye was blurred for about ten minutes. When it cleared I had a headache but not as bad as I’ve had before. I would have phoned the doctor but she’s still on her course and there’s no point in talking to someone else.
