I woke up at nine o’clock. Alex and I had breakfast. After breakfast I put the oven on self clean, cleaned the rims of the burners, and the top of the oven. Then I went to have my shower. When I was still in the shower Charlie knocked on the door. He said he was taking Dad to the hospital. I said WHAT! Charlie repeated what he said and I said what happened? Charlie said he fell. I said what was he doing? Charlie said he was shovelling the snow and fell. I said okay, you had better go. By the time I had gotten out of the shower Charlie had gone. I figured there was no point in phoning to Mom and Dad’s that they would have been gone by then.
It had snowed a lot yesterday and last night. I asked Alex if he wanted to go outside with me that I was going to shovel the snow. Alex said he wanted to come. We hadn’t been outside very long when Mom and Charlie came by. Mom said they had decided to call an ambulance. They were afraid Dad was going to pass out in the car. Mom said Dad was in a lot of pain. They left to go to the hospital and would let me know what happens.
Alex and I stayed out half an hour later. Alex said he wanted to come in and have lunch. Alex made us half a sandwich each. After lunch we went outside again. Alex went inside after about half an hour. I told him I wanted to finish shovelling the snow. Alex said that was okay, he was going to watch a tape. He said he would call me if the phone was for me.
Alex called me to the phone twice. First time is was Shirley, she said she was going to drop by if that was okay. I told her I was shovelling the snow but I was almost finished. The second time Charlie phoned to tell me they were at Emergency and Dad was going to have his leg x-rayed. Charlie said not to over do it when I was shovelling the snow. I said it’s a bit late I’m almost finished.
I finished shovelling the snow at two thirty. Shirley came shortly afterwards. She didn’t stay long since Alex and I had to return the movies. When we got home Charlie was home already. He said Dad was being admitted today.
We started to cook dinner. I made rice pudding in the slow cooker. We ate dinner at six o’clock. After dinner I did the dishes then I left to go to Mom and Dad’s. It’s been very hard on Mom, she’s really annoyed with Dad that he would do such a dumb thing. Mom said to me the thing that gets her is that he just didn’t damage his leg but he’s affecting his life as well as her own. And who knows other peoples lives. I stayed until nine o’clock and came home.
I did a few things and phoned Mom to tell her I was going to the hospital tomorrow morning. If she wanted to go with me I thought I would get there around eleven. Mom said that would be good.
I got ready for bed. Alex left me a message. The message said Mama don’t look in closet surprise. I sure was tempted to look in the closet. I went to bed before eleven o’clock.
