Diagnosis: Leukemia; September 14, 1989

I woke up at seven thirty. Alex was already up, he went to watch tv. I had a shower and got dressed. While I was in the bathroom Alex asked me if it was hot or cold outside. I told him three times before he finally heard me. I’m sure that woke Charlie up.

I did the dishes, tided up the house and did the laundry.

I went out just after ten o’clock. Charlie said your going to leave me by myself in the house. I thought that was pretty funny considering I have to be the one home when an agent comes to show the house.

I went to London Drugs then I went to the mall. I was having a lot of pain in my leg and my foot so I didn’t stay long.

Charlie said Dean had been and gone. He said Dean would phone later about another client who he bringing this afternoon.

After lunch Alex said he was really bored. Charlie said he would take him to the park. I said I would stay home. I went for a nap after they left.

I got up just after two thirty. I heard Charlie leaving, for some reason he didn’t wake me up. The phone rang, Alex said he would get it. He never came to get me, so I figured it was Mom . When I got up Alex told me Dean had phoned. I said did he want me to phone him. Alex said yes. I was really impressed that Alex had taken the message so well.

I phoned Dean and he said I hope I didn’t wake you. I said no. He said he has a client flying in from Hong Kong but depending if their plane is on time he wouldn’t know the time for sure. Did you want me to phone you back later. I said yes.

He also said the woman that came this afternoon is interested in the house. She wants to bring her husband to see it. He wouldn’t be able to come until Saturday.

Dean phoned back at four o’clock. He said his client had gotten lost but they would be here at five thirty. I said okay.

I finished writing in the journal then I made sure the house was in order.

They came at five thirty. They spent a lot of time in the house.

We ate dinner at six o’clock. After dinner we watched tv. I wrote in the journal.

Dean brought the client from this morning back at eight thirty. I guess they changed their minds about waiting.

Alex went to bed at nine o’clock. I wrote in the journal and watched tv
