Diagnosis: Leukemia; September 21, 1989

I woke up at eight thirty. I had a shower, got dressed and had my breakfast.

Alex woke up at seven thirty. He doesn’t seem to require as much sleep as he did before.

I went out at ten o’clock to get my hair cut. Since I’ve been pregnant my hair has been become quite damaged and split. It’s cut quite short, the shortest it’s been for awhile but it’ll be easy to keep for the next while. I need something easy now and when the baby comes.

I came home at eleven thirty. I had my snack and got Alex ready for school. They have to bring a snack as they stay form 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Charlie came with us to the school. After we had taken Alex to school we drove around Ranch Park then we went to Super store. I hadn’t been since it opened. It’s too big for me to walk around. The childrens’clothing does seem to be well priced.

After we came home I had my lunch. I cleaned up the house put away some of Alex’s toys. Then it was time to go and get Alex.

When we first went to take Alex to school, the other kids said Alex is here. One girl even told Mrs Wall.

Alex said he was the special friend today. He got to do what the teacher usually does. He also told them about his summer memories poster.

When we came home Alex watched tv while I relaxed.

We ate dinner at five thirty. After dinner we watched Cosby then Alex went to bed. Alex helped me put away his toys before he went to sleep. Alex told me while I was tucking him into bed that school really tires him out.

I watched tv and went to bed at ten o’clock.
