Diagnosis: Leukemia; May 10, 1987

Alex woke us up after seven o'clock. He just seems to be starving.

I go him dressed and got him breakfast. He's terribly impatient, first of all he usually doesn't know what he wants to eat. Then when he has decided what he wants, he wants it right away. He tells me how slow I am and then he usually starts crying and screaming. He tells me he just can't wait.

I find it very exhausting, I'm continually cooking and washing dishes. I don't think Alex really is full but his stomach is so big, you would think he would be.

Alex asked me how come it's Mothers Day again. I said what are you talking about? He said we had it last week. I really don't know where he gets these ideas!

I had asked Mom and Dad to come over for Mothers Day but Mom said it wasn't fair after all the things we have gone through. So she asked us to come over for dinner.

Alex bought me a gold bracelet and twelve red roses for Mothers Day.

We went to Mom and Dad's in the afternoon. Mom gave Alex a corsage to give me for Mothers Day, which was really nice.

Joan has been in the hospital as she started bleeding. She's not due to have the baby for another week. The doctors thought she might have to be induced but they're doing tests. So they'll have the results next week. She came over for an hour, the doctor said she could go out for an hour.

We got home after nine o'clock. Alex went to bed not long after. I went to bed after eleven o'clock.
