Diagnosis: Leukemia; May 16, 1987

Alex came into our bed around six o'clock. Alex woke me up around eight o'clock telling me how hungry he was and that he wanted macaroni and cheese. I told him we didn't have any and he said I want it! He then told me to make it.

So here I am making macaroni and cheese at 8:30 a.m.! All the time I'm making it Alex is commenting at how slow I am and how come it's taking so long. I gave Alex some macaroni with melted cheez whiz and he screamed I don't like it meaning the cheese whiz. Alex told Charlie to put it in the oven.

I then gave Alex plain macaroni with nothing on it. Alex said it tasted really good, then when he finished it he said it tasted terrible.

I finished making the macaroni and cheese the usual way. Alex then wanted a bowl of cereal, he finished the cereal and wanted some pancakes. I made some pancakes and he ate about two of them. I felt totally exhausted and I still had to do all the dishes.

I did the laundry as Alex had wet our bed and his bed.

Then Alex and I played one of his games. I had a snack then got ready to go out.

We left the house around 2:30 p.m. I went and had my hair cut at Toppys by Amy. She asked about Alex but I don't think she realizes how seriously ill Alex is.

We went to Kentucky Fried Chicken and sat in the car and had dinner. Then we went to Mom and Dad's, Joan and the kids were there. We stayed until 9:30 p.m and came home.

Alex had his medicine then had some cheezies and brushed his teeth. Alex went to sleep around 10:45 p.m. I got ready for bed around 11:00 p.m.
