Diagnosis: Leukemia; May 6, 1987

We got up early as we had to be at the hospital at ten o'clock. We left after nine o'clock. When we got to the receptionist desk we were told we had to register Alex as an out patient. Charlie went and registered Alex, I took Alex into the clinic.

There were a lot of children inside the clinic, it was almost full. It was a bit overwhelming seing so many people since when we had our tour there was only one child when we went. We had to wait about half an hour before they did anything.

Alex didn't want to leave me, he was trying to get use to his surroundings.

The occupational therapist has a painting class every Wednesday, after awhile Alex sat at the table and painted a picture.

A nurse came and asked us to come into the lab where they take blood. Alex cried for a little while. After they finished taking blood Alex got a puppet finger. Then we went back out and Alex played some more.

A nurse, Krisann came and asked us to follow her to one of the rooms. She gave Alex a shot, after she finished she took Alex to the treasure chest and he got to pick a prize.

Then the doctor came and asked us to follow him to one of the rooms. He checked Alex and I told him that Alex still had a cough. The doctor checked his chest and he said it was okay.

We went back out and we had to wait, as there is a period of time to wait after Alex has his shot.

We left after one o'clock and were home before two o'clock. Charlie got ready for work and left at 2:45 p.m. I gave Alex his medicine and then he went for a nap.

Alex woke up around five o'clock. We had dinner and then we just watched t.v. and played. Alex went to bed around nine o'clock. I got ready for bed around eleven o'clock.
