Alex woke us up at 6:45 p.m. He had come into bed in the middle of the night. He had wet so much he had soaked through his clothes, the sheet and the mattress cover. He was complaining he was wet, cold and hungry.
I got him dressed and fixed him a bowl of cereal. Charlie told me to go back to sleep, he would look after Alex. I went into Alex's bed and slept until nine o'clock.
Alex was getting very upset as he was so very hungry. Charlie thinks he eats too much but it's the Prednisone. The Prednisone makes him very hungry, they call it moon face.
We got ready to go to the hospital. We left at 9:45 a.m. Alex complained that his thumb is itchy.
The nurse gave Alex his shot not long after we got there and he got a prize. He cried when he got his shot.
Then another nurse took some blood from Alex. We had to wait about an hour.
Krisann gave us a sheet listing Alex's blood counts from the time we got into the hospital until the 11th. She then told me that the platelet count should be over 100,000 and the ANC should be over 1,000. She also told me Alex is in remission meaning that he has no Cancer cells in his body.
Krisann said he'll not have any chemotherapy or shots next week, so it'll give his body a rest and that way his body cant get the blood count up. The next week they'll start chemotherapy if his platelet count is 100,000 and his ANC is 1,000. The ANC is the absolute neutraphilcount. It is the first line of defense against infection.
We left the hospital around 11:45 a.m. Alex wanted to eat so we stopped at Shanghai for a take out. Alex complained the whole time Charlie was in the restaurant. He got so mad at one point he slapped my face. I yelled at him, he was very upset I yelled and he started to cry.
We drove home and then had lunch. Alex eats a lot, it's all he ever thinks about. He does nothing much but eat.
Alex went for a nap shortly after three o'clock. I went to the mall around 3:30 p.m. I really need this time to get away from it all.
I came home around five o'clock. Charlie was already preparing dinner and Alex was sitting at the table wondering how come dinner was taking so long.
I bought Alex a new jacket and a snoopy hat. Alex tried them on and said they were pretty nice.
Alex ate a lot for dinner, broccoli, mushrooms, rice, and B.B.Q chicken. Just after he finished dinner he wanted some popcorn. He had a small bowl of popcorn, then some potato chips and finally bread sticks.
Around nine o'clock Alex wanted to go to bed. Alex had his medicine then I brushed his teeth and he swished Nilstat in his mouth. By 9:30 p.m. he was in bed.
I watched t.v. and wrote in the journal and went to bed around eleven o'clock.
