Alex woke me up at three o’clock this morning. He wanted his diaper changed. I went back to bed and the swelling below my eyes is worse. I went back to sleep. I woke up around eight o’clock and checked my eyes and they’re about the same.
Charlie had got Alex dressed and was trying to get Alex something to eat. He wanted pea soup and we didn’t have any. Alex told Charlie to go to the store and buy it. Charlie told him the store wasn’t open and Alex started to scream and yell.
I had to put Alex in his room, he stayed there for about ten minutes. When he came out he had calmed down quite a lot. Alex decided he would have noodles and ham. Then since I was having toast he wanted some too. Alex finished about a plate of noodles, sliced turkey and potatoes. He ate about half the toast.
Alex wanted to play a game so he and I played. While we played he munched on popcorn and he had one liquorice.
I phoned to make an appointment to see Dr W and I was able to see him today. My appointment is for 11:50 a.m.
Charlie and Alex got ready to go to the hospital. Alex doesn’t have to have any treatment, they’ll take blood and then the doctor wants to check his thumb. They left after ten o’clock,. Alex didn’t mind that I didn’t go, which is really good. I don’t like him depending on me so much. He can depend on me but I think he should depend on us both.
I cleaned up the house and I was all ready to go before eleven o’clock. Dr W was really nice, when he came in he asked about Alex. Then he came over and took my hands and asked how’s the kid. I told him what happened and he said it was probably an allergy but it could be hay fever. He gave me some pills to take and some cream to put on my skin. He also said I could put ice or ice water on my face five minutes out of every hour. The doctor said the swelling should be gone by forty eight hours. When I was leaving he said say hi to Alex and tell him I hope he gets better soon.
I got home after noon and took a pill and put the cream on my face.
Charlie and Alex got back at 12:30 p.m. and Charlie said the appointment for Friday is 8:30 a.m. I asked him why it was so early and he was told because Alex is to have a bone marrow and spinal tap. I told Charlie the last time Alex had a bone marrow and spinal tap our appointment was for 10:30 a.m. Charlie asked me to phone, the receptionist said the last time Dr R didn’t tell them Alex needed a spinal tap and bone marrow. So we have to go there early.
Alex had a can of pea soup and a bowl of hot and sour soup with rice for lunch. He had some cheezies while we played a game.
I talked to Joan and she is two centimetres dilated and the doctor could feel the baby’s head. Maybe she’ll have the baby soon!
I woke Alex up at 3:30 p.m. to take his medicine and he had some cheezies with it. Alex went back to sleep and he woke up at about six o’clock. Alex had some more hot and sour soup with rice. He wanted more pea soup but I’m trying to limit him one can a day. There is probably too much salt in it. Alex also had roast beef and potatoes before he had a nap.
We watched TV. and played another game, Alex wanted another bowl of hot and sour soup with rice. He had popcorn with unsalted butter, a bowl of tomato soup which he ate a little bit, and finally cheese and crackers. At 11:30 p.m. he said he was still hungry. I told him to wait, until Pa comes home and you can ask him. He said Pa can’t get me anything his arms are outside!
Alex is still awake and it’s 12:00 a.m. I’m get ready to go to sleep.
