Diagnosis: Leukemia; June 13, 1987

I woke up around nine o’clock. I had breakfast then I asked Alex what he wanted for breakfast. He said that he wanted hot cereal. I made him the cereal and then he said he didn’t want it. He said that he wanted soup. I told him he couldn’t have anything else until he ate the cereal. He asked me to feed him. I fed him a few times and he said he didn’t want any more. Charlie fed him the rest, he made a game out of it and Alex was quite happy to finish it. After the cereal he wanted a sandwich, I didn’t think he would finish it but he did. This is the first time in awhile he has eaten so much.

I had a shower and got dressed then I went to the bank and the mall. After the bank I stopped at London Drugs. I met Marla there she was with Lanie, we talked outside of London Drugs for about half an hour. Marla invited Alex and I over next week, she said maybe we could go to White Pine Beach for a picnic.

Then I went to the mall, I phoned Charlie before I started shopping. He said someone had bought us a microwave. I said what did they do that for? Charlie said they’re coming over, well they said see you later. I said you mean Jolene? He said no Mom and Dad. I said what did they do that for? I never expected them to buy us a microwave. Bart had wanted to buy us one as he had sold our old house. He wanted to buy us something as a house warming gift. We had told him no as we didn’t have the room for it. It sure was nice of Mom and Dad to buy it for us.

I bought some groceries as I thought they were bring it over, then I went home. Charlie said he was really surprised they would buy it for us. I had lunch and I also made Alex lunch. Alex didn’t eat much.

The electrician came to do the wiring of the basement.

Alex and I did the press-out book.

The electrician finished around three o’clock.

Alex and I made brownies to take to Mom and Dad.
We left around five o’clock, we went to Arby’s for dinner. We got to Mom and Dad’s around seven o’clock. The microwave is really nice, they bought one for themselves as well.

We came home around ten o’clock. Alex had fallen asleep in the car. I gave him his medicine before we left. I put Alex in his bed when we got home.

Charlie put the microwave on the counter. We will have to buy a stand for it as it takes up too much space.

I went to bed around 11:30 p.m.
