Diagnosis: Leukemia; June 7, 1987

I woke up before eight o’clock. Alex and I had waffles for breakfast. I think he might have had two small squares. I gave him a ¼ of a gravol pill. It seems to really help him if he has one before he has his ARA-C shot.

I did the dishes and got Alex dressed. Then I had a shower and got dressed. We left the house after nine thirty. We had to wait about ten minutes after we got to the hospital for the medicine. The medicine has to come from the pharmacy.

We went to Kentucky Fried Chicken for a take out and then went to English Bay and ate lunch on the grass. After lunch we went to Mom and Dad’s. We brought Alex’s bike and Dad attached an umbrella to Alex’s bike, he sure looked cute!

We left at eight o’clock. I gave Alex his medicine before we left, as last week he feel asleep on the way home and I had to wake him up. He was just furious when I did wake him up and I had a heck of a time getting him to take his medicine.

Alex feel asleep on the way home and when we got home I put him to bed.

George, Lorna, George’s sister and brother-in-law came over around nine thirty. They brought Alex a box of cookies. Charlie wanted George to look at the basement and give him an idea as to how to finish the basement.

Lorna asked about Alex, she was quite concerned about him which was nice. I’ve noticed a lot of people don’t now how to talk about Alex. It’s almost like they’re afraid to ask.

They left after ten o’clock, I put Alex’s sheets on his bed. I moved Alex to his bed. I had put him in our bed when we got home.

I wrote in the journal for about half an hour. It’s 11:30 and I’m about ready for bed.
