I woke up at eight o’clock. Alex asked me to get him dressed. Alex wanted hot chocolate and hot cereal for breakfast.
At 8:30 a.m. I phoned the hospital to tell them the Mercaptopurine Alex is taking is running out. Krisann said it was okay as Alex should have his last one tonight. I asked for Alex’s blood count but she said she would phone back.
Charlie went out at ten o’clock, grocery shopping. Shirley phoned and said they would be over at one o’clock.
I vacuumed the house and cleaned the bathrooms.
At eleven o’clock, Martina phoned back with Alex’s results. She said because Alex’s HGB is quite low we should watch and if Alex gets tired we should phone and then come in. Martina phoned thirty minutes later and said Dr R wants Alex to come in tomorrow. Dr R wants Alex to have blood.
Shirley phoned again and said if it was okay they would be over earlier. I finished doing the bathrooms and had a shower. I got dressed, then they came over.
Alex and Brent played in his room for about an hour. Then I told them to play outside in Alex’s pool. Alex went in the pool but Brent didn’t go in. He said he didn’t want to get wet. Alex thought this was funny and kept splashing Brent. They had a really good time together. It was really nice for Alex to have someone to play with.
They left at two o’clock.
It sure is hot today, I can’t believe it. It seems like it’s a heat wave. I heard on the radio that it’s 34C. My feet have been bothering me all day. I kept soaking them in cold water.
Alex fell asleep right when I put dinner on the table. He slept until seven o’clock. I tried to wake him up at six o’clock but he wouldn’t wake up. He’s really tired his HGB must be down.
Alex had dinner at seven o’clock, he ate about half of it. Later we went outside, he played in the pool for awhile. We dumped the water out and came inside.
Alex played and I read. At nine o’clock Alex said he wanted to go to bed. I read him a story but he didn’t go to sleep. We watched TV and at 11:30 p.m. Alex said he wanted a snack. He had milk and cookies. He brushed his teeth again and went to bed. He was still awake when Charlie came home. He said he had to give Charlie a hug then he would go to sleep.
I wrote in the journal for a couple of hours. I hadn’t written in the journal all weekend. It’s 12:10 a.m. I’m going to go to bed now.
