Diagnosis: Leukemia; June 28, 1987

We all woke up at nine o’clock. Alex and I had waffles for breakfast.

I cleaned up the house from last night. I was so tired last night, I didn’t’ bother cleaning up. I did the dishes and had a shower.

We all had lunch at home and then we went to the mall. I exchanged Alex’s sandals for a smaller size. We stopped at Dairy Queen on our way to Mom and Dad’s. We bought sundaes for everyone. Mom invited us for dinner. After dinner Charlie and Dad played pool.

I noticed Alex was chewing his finger nails, I told him to stop chewing them. He got annoyed. Then Mom told him he shouldn’t chew them. Alex said No way brat to Mom. I couldn’t believe he would say that. I told him to apologize right now. Alex cried and cried, he told me he was sorry. I told him to apologize to Mom. He went and apologized to Mom. I think it’s very important even though Alex is sick to discipline him. He can’t get away with anything just because he’s sick.

I gave Alex the liquid medicine before we left. I forgot to bring the Mercaptopurine. We left and got home around nine o’clock. Alex had his medicine and went to bed.

I went to bed after eleven o’clock.
