Diagnosis: Leukemia; June 26, 1987

Alex woke me up at eight o’clock, to tell me that the freezee pops were frozen. I told him he couldn’t have one until later. He said I KNOW!

Charlie had a dentist appointment at 7:45 a.m., he was gone when we got up.

Alex and I had breakfast, then we watched TV until Charlie came home. Charlie had to have a root canal, his mouth was still frozen. He has to go back in a couple of weeks.

Alex had a shower, it was the first time since Alex has been sick that he has had a shower. He screamed and cried, he said I don’t like showers. But once he was in it he quite enjoyed it.

I got Alex dressed then we went outside. Alex rode his bike while I swept the walkway. We came in, Alex and Charlie had something to eat. I had lunch around 11:30 a.m. then I cleaned up the kitchen. Charlie went to the bank.

At noon Shirley, Brent and Monique dropped by. Alex and Brent played outside. They left before one o’clock. We left shortly after to go to the hospital. We got there after one thirty, there weren’t very many people there. We had to wait until Martina came back from lunch.

Alex had a piece of cake, it was donated to the hospital by a Movie company. Krisann said Alex could take a poster home. He choose a snake poster.

Alex had a blood test and his medicine at 2:15 p.m. We left and came home.

Alex watched TV until dinner time. He didn’t eat much. He played until it was time for bed. Alex was asleep by 7:30 p.m. I read him a story before he went to sleep.

I watched TV for awhile then I wrote in the journal for about half an hour. It’s 9:30 p.m. and I’ll go to bed in awhile.
